Oregon CrossFit's Best of the West Summer Event 2016

Information: Oregon CrossFit will again be hosting Best of the West Oregon Summer Event 2016. The dates this year are August 20 and 21st(Saturday and Sunday). The event will again be hosted at Summit High School.

DIvisions: The event will have the following divisions: RX, Scaled Teams, Masters, Rx Teams. There will not be a scaled individual division this summer. The teams are two person/same sex teams.

Masters Divisions: We have had some questions on standards, expected movements, etc. and our plan is to base the Masters workouts off the 45-49 Age Range and use the appropriate movements that are associated with that range. Please refer to the Games site for ideas, such as: http://games.crossfit.com/workouts/masters-qualifier/2016

Registration: Open on Tuesday, May 31th at 7:00am. Last years event sold out in less than 20 minutes so please don't wait and miss out!

Registration Cost: $115 for Individuals and $230 for Teams

Refunds: There are no refunds. Spots purchased can be transferred until Sunday, July 31st.

RX Division: RX is being able to complete the CrossFit Open as RX. This includes but isn't limited to being able to "RX" CrossFit named workouts such as; Grace, Isabel, Diane, Jackie, 30 M/U for time, Cindy. A scaled athlete would not be able to complete the above workouts as "RX'd". If you needed to scale the 2016 CrossFit Open and would still need to scale the 2016 CrossFit Open(today) you are a scaled athlete in terms of this event.

Scaled athletes: You should be able to complete some reps of the following movements: push ups, squats 95/65 both front and back, Thrusters 65/45, Deadlift 135/95, Snatch 65/45, Clean 95/65, American KB Swing 53/35 and shoulder to overhead 95/65

Teams: Should be able to meet most if not all of the standards in the RX division. Sometimes in teams if one partner has a skill they can cover for another partner that doesn't have the skill. A lot of team workouts are task completion and can be completed in anyway fashion.

Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers that are available for at least 1 entire day's worth of work (that's 7-5 on Saturday or 7-4 on Sunday) and will bring a positive attitude and a willingness to put in some hard manual labor over the course of a long day. We know this isn't easy work and it's never easy to be a "volunteer" and that's why we will reward you as much as we can.

We are willing and able to offer the following: A volunteer t-shirt for each day you work, food (we try to keep it healthy) and water which is usually stored under some shade and early registration access for the 2017 Winter Games. Additionally, we will try to offer any discounts offered by sponsors/vendors, free items from sponsors/vendors and sometimes we will do some random giveaways or raffles specific to our volunteers and judges.

Judges
We are looking for judges that have passed the Crossfit Judges Course (available online and taken by many ahead of each Crossfit Open), would ideally have a Level 1 Crossfit Trainer Certificate and can work an entire day, at least. Ideally, you would have some previous judging experience and not be afraid to hand out "no reps" (when justified) like free candy. Again, this work isn't easy, but the more judges we get, the less work you do and we try to have 2 "sets" so you get an equal "work to rest ratio". Since we ask a lot and you will be working hard, we will reward you with the following: A judge t-shirt for each day you work, food (we try to have healthy food options) and water, a great opportunity for sunlight/developing your tan/Vitamin D and early registration access for the 2017 Winter Games. Additionally, we will try to offer any discounts offered by sponsors/vendors, free items from sponsors/vendors and sometimes we will do some random giveaways or raffles specific to our volunteers and judges. Judges at our events are also looked upon in a favorable light when offering to judge at the West Regionals.
